Welcome to Kickin' It Old School! It may not make sense to the newcomers of the site, but this will be the second time that our Hogwarts family has put their characters through Hogwarts. In fact, our characters went from Hogwarts, to their older years, to being old enough to have children almost in their twenties. As a whole, the admins decided that it would be fun to kick it old school and bring the characters back to their schooling years and see what trouble they could cook up this time around.
The site is set in the year 1991, meaning that Harry is in his first year still. This is a free-for-all site, meaning that if you pick up a technically "canon character" that J.K. Rowling has created, then you are free to do with them as you want. They are yours, so have fun with them, but just be reasonable with certain things. Also, one last note, they don't have to be in the houses that J.K. Rowling set up for them. If you want Harry to have been sorted into Slytherin, Ron into Hufflepuff, and Hermione into Ravenclaw, I'm not going to stop you.
There is no defined site plot, but there will be site mini-plots for anyone to be able to join. Mini-plots will be discussed soon and decided on even sooner after that. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share them.
REASONS TO JOIN THE SITE . . .
- There is no set site plot that involve only a few characters. There are site mini-plots that are being thought up currently that will be open to anyone that is in the particular house requested.
- There are 5 very friendly admins that are willing to help you out with any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have, so don't be afraid to ask or talk to them about something that's on your mind. It also means that you don't have to worry about your application sitting there for days when you finish it. It'll be looked at within an hour or so from when it was posted, majority of the time. On top of the admins, anyone that is a part of the site is willing to help you as well.
- Everyone on the site is very friendly and we're all like a family. We don't exclude anyone new when they join the site, they're added to the family and become one of us. We may all be the veterans, but we want to welcome you with open arms so you become a veteran as well.
- The site skin is easy on the eyes and colors don't clash. Also, the way the boards are set up is easily understandable and it's not hard to find your way around the site.
- Everyone is always willing to role play with you, even if you're still a beginner, but are able to keep up with the word count.
- Simply by posting on the site, you'll be rewarded by earning house points for your house. It's not hard to gain house points at all, so even if your house is far behind, you alone can help bring the house closer to winning the house cup by posting around the site.
- Quidditch games will be fair for everyone! None of the 'omgosh, this is the third post in the thread and i already caught the snitch, gryffindor wins! yay!' kind of stuff. That's annoying to all of you, as well as all of us admins. When Quidditch games come about, it will be fair for everyone involved. It also won't be a place for just the House Teams, it'll be a place for the rest of the students wanting to 'watch' the match in the stands.
- All of the original members of the very first Harry Potter site that these set of admins created, are always willing to role play with newer members of the site.
- Contests will be held frequently and everyone has a chance to win them.
- The site has a fun-loving feel too it.
- All you need for the site is your imagination.
